Poetry Month – April 19, 2024 – On the Alter

Demonic eyes
Spots everywhere
Curled in repose
Under the corner of a street vendor’s blanket
Almost hidden by the fringe
Not exactly the finest symbol of luck and prosperity
Except a rich American got the joke
carried it home
put it in surprising corners of her house
To scare away the creeps
A different kind of luck and prosperity

Sometimes you have to push a poem. Sometimes it’s the end of the week. Sometimes your cat escapes while you’re writing. Sometimes you have to push a poem.
