In New England where I grew up, trees and flowers go dormant in the winter. They wait for the sun to rise higher in the sky. Then the sap rises; crocus poke through thawing gardens and spring begins. In Texas, our dormant time can be summer. If it is really hot and there little rain, trees will shed leaves and conserve energy. But right now, with lots and lots of rain and cool temperatures…
