My mom died in 2009 just as the iPhone was finding its way into every pocket and purse. I feel sure she would have loved having one. Especially the apps. Most especially, the weather app. As it was, she’d call me up after hearing the national weather on television to hear firsthand what my weather experience was. Really, she was checking on my mood. She believed there was direct correlation between the weather and one’s mood. If she’d been looking at the map tonight, she would have seen a huge mass yellow and orange hovering over Austin. She might have worried. She might have called. It was her way of connecting. After all,  a sunny day made life immeasurably better and a stormy night was good for tucking in. Love you, mama.
